Variable Speed Belts – Procedure for Belt Identification
Step 2 - What is the belt type?

Variable speed belt is actually a wide V-belt.
Step 3 - What is the belt width – respectively, what is the belt profile?

The procedure is the same as for V-belts.

Measure the upper width of the belt, e.g. 47 mm = profile width 47 mm.

Measure the belt thickness, e.g. 13 mm = profile 47 x 13.
In the profile table, you can find the appropriate type.
Step 4 - What is the belt length?

Measure the length of the belt, e.g. encircle the outer surface with a string.

Then measure the length of the string.
Belt length
- inner length Li - measured by the inside surface
- outer length La - measured by the outside surface
- working length Lw - working length
More tips for belts identification

Newer belts are marked with a product number and/or manufacturer.
In case of repeated belt damage or breakage, it is necessary to remove the belt and determine its fault.
