Technical Gas Hoses
Industrial hoses for technical gases are designed for the safe distribution of flammable and inert technical gases under pressure – from welding hoses through hoses for LPG dispensing and distribution to hoses for industrial nitrogen and other gaseous media in industrial facilities.
Gas hoses are manufactured exclusively from rubber compounds – most commonly EPDM or NBR – with textile reinforcement and a smooth outer surface resistant to contamination. Key selection parameters include the type of gas and its certification requirements, working pressure, inner diameter, and any requirements for electrical conductivity – these parameters, together with the applicable safety standard, determine the hose’s suitability for a given application.
The Complete Continental Industrial Hose Range
The Continental industrial hose portfolio comprises three independent product lines. Two of them focus primarily on rubber hoses and are geographically referred to as EMEA and AMERICAS. The third pillar is the thermoplastic hose range, formerly known under the Merlett brand.
The full current range, including detailed product descriptions and individual data sheets, is available through the online hose finders:
- Continental Industrial Hoses (EMEA)
- Continental Industrial Hoses (AMERICAS)
- Continental Thermoplastic Hoses (formerly Merlett)
We supply products from all three product lines listed above.

Typical Applications
Technical gas hoses are designed for the distribution of technical – often flammable – gases under pressure. They are therefore subject to strict requirements, particularly regarding leak-tightness, material compatibility, and compliance with applicable safety standards.
In welding shops, mechanical engineering, and construction, welding hoses are used for distributing oxygen and acetylene or other fuel gases to welding and cutting torches – available in single-line and twin-line configurations for direct connection of both gases. LPG hoses are used at dispensing stations, mobile tank trucks, and filling equipment for propane-butane cylinders and vessels. In the chemical and petrochemical industries, in shipyards, and for tank truck transport, hoses are used for distributing industrial nitrogen and other inert gases.
