How do I know that the belt is properly tensioned?

V-, timing and ribbed belts are tensioned according to their values given in the belt calculation. To calculate belts, use the calculation programme CONTI Professional.

In calculating aforementioned values, frequency of the tensioned belt is taken into consideration. By checking the natural frequency of the tensioned belt, the most accurate tension can be calculated. Measurement is carried out by using the frequency counter, CONTI VSM-1. Alternatively, a simpler device CONTI VSM MINI can be used.

If you do not have a frequency counter at your disposal, measuring belt tension by deflection evaluates the force needed to achieve a given belt deflection force. The values, which we are supposed to measure, are listed in the calculation or in the chart which accompanies the belt tension metre. The tension metre is called TYMA BELT CONTROL 1.

Here you can find user guides for measuring devices and their description.
