32B-1 Reinforced and Corrosion-Resistant Roller Chains According to DIN 8187 (B-Series)

32B-1 reinforced and corrosion‑resistant roller chains (2″ × 1 1/4″), also known as high‑strength corrosion‑protected or anti‑corrosion chains, are a special type of simplex drive chains. Like standard roller chains, they are manufactured according to ISO 606 (DIN 8187), meaning they belong to the European B‑series.

The chains consist of outer links with pins and inner links with enhanced bushes, on which freely rotating rollers are mounted. The chains are made of steel with a special surface treatment that provides enhanced corrosion resistance. The specific method of corrosion protection (such as galvanizing or nickel‑plating) varies by chain type and manufacturer.

Thanks to their design and the materials used, they offer significantly higher fatigue strength than standard series chains.

Chains Construction

Reinforced and Corrosion-Resistant Duplex Roller Chain Construction

  1. Inner link – high-precision, wide-waisted profile with a special corrosion-resistant coating
  2. Outer link – high-precision, wide-waisted profile with a special corrosion-resistant coating
  3. Pin made of special alloy steel with an additional layer of chrome plating (case-hardened or through-hardened, depending on the type)
  4. Seamless special steel bush, optimally cylindrical, with high wear resistance and a corrosion-resistant coating
  5. Through-hardened seamless roller with a corrosion-resistant coating

Chains Fields of Use

Example Application – Aggressive Conditions in a Sugar Factory

32B-1 reinforced and corrosion-resistant roller chains according to DIN 8187 are intended for applications with higher mechanical load in environments with an increased risk of corrosion, such as humid areas, outdoor operations, or applications where standard roller chains do not meet the requirements for strength and sufficient corrosion resistance.

Typical fields of application include agriculture, the construction industry, the chemical industry, or wastewater treatment plants.

They are most commonly used as drive chains in demanding operating conditions but can also be fitted with attachments or other auxiliary components for material handling and lifting applications.
