Conveyor Rollers
Conveyor rollers are an essential part of roller and belt conveyors. They perform a supporting function or serve directly for the transport of material and handling of items (boxes, crates, pallets, etc.). The rollers are seated in a fixed conveyor frame and form a continuous path.
The size and design of the transport rollers depend on the nature of the transported objects. The basic parameters are dimensions (length, diameter), load capacity and material design (steel, galvanized, stainless steel, PVC, etc.).
Roller Types Overview
| Roller Type | Description | Illustration |
|---|---|---|
Gravity Conveyor Rollers |
They are designed to move the products along a roller conveyor due to gravity or manual movement. They also serve as support rollers under the belt or for moving pallets. Available in steel, plastic, stainless steel or galvanized. The shaft end can be female or male thread, spring-loaded, flat or hexagon shaft. |

Round Belt Driven Rollers |
They are designed to move lighter products; e.g. for e-shops, distribution centers or depots. Possibility of one groove or two grooves for round belt drive. The advantage is easy replacement of the round belt. |

Poly-V-Belt Driven Rollers |
They are designed to move lighter and medium-heavy products at medium to higher speeds; e.g. for e-shops, distribution centers or depots. The advantage is the quiet operation of conveyors and high transport efficiency. |

Timing Belt Driven Rollers |
They are designed to move medium-heavy products at medium speeds; e.g. for e-shops, distribution centers or depots. The advantage is high transport efficiency. The disadvantage is the higher price and more difficult assembly. |

Chain Driven Rollers |
They are designed for moving heavier products along the roller conveyor, for higher transmitted forces; e.g. for pallet tracks with higher loads. They can be made with a single-row or double-row sprocket, which can be made of steel, galvanized, plastic or stainless steel. |

Friction Conveyor Roller |
They are designed to move lighter and medium-heavy products with the possibility of accumulation. They contain a special slip bearing housing, which has an adjustable pressure and thus an adjustable accumulation force. They can be chain or belt driven. |

Curve Rollers |
They are designed for curves and bends. They can be gravity non-driven, or driven by a round belt, a Poly-V-belt or a chain as required by the load. They excel in quiet operation and easy cleaning. |

Drive Rollers |
They are designed to move lighter and medium-heavy products. The drive rollers have a motor built directly into the roller – ROLLERDRIVE, which drives the roller itself. They can then drive further rollers by means of timing, round or Poly-V-belts or chains. |

In addition to rollers from Interroll, we also offer rollers from other manufacturers, including their other types and sizes. We also offer rubber coating of rollers, self-adhesive grips or roller covers.
Typical Applications
Conveyor rollers are used in all industries where it is necessary to transport any objects or drive them using a conveyor belt.
They are typically used in conveyors in logistics, distribution centers, airports, the food, automotive, glass or electrical industries, in the production of building materials and in many other conveyor systems.

Roller Manufacturer Profile
Interroll is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of components for internal logistics. Although the company was founded in Germany in 1959, its headquarters are now located in the Swiss canton of Ticino, where Interroll Schweiz AG is based. The company operates production and R&D centers in Europe, Asia, and North America. Its solutions are used by system integrators and equipment manufacturers in logistics, e-commerce, and industrial automation worldwide.
Interroll develops and manufactures conveyor rollers, drum motors, RollerDrive and PalletDrive drives, conveyor modules, belt curves, and other system components.
For its roller conveyor drives, Interroll uses special belts supplied by Continental ContiTech. In modern fixed center-distance designs, ribbed belts such as CONTI-V MULTIRIB PJ ELAST with elastic tension members are frequently used.
