Chain Description
28A-1 KettenWulf HS (Reinforced, ASA 140-1, 1 3/4” × 1, DIN 8188) - 5 m Pack (+ 2 Connecting Links) is a special type of simplex drive chain. It is standardized according to ISO 606 (DIN 8188, ANSI B29.1), meaning it is a chain of the American A-series.
The chain consists of outer links with pins and inner links with enhanced bushes, on which freely rotating rollers are mounted. The chain is made of steel. Thanks to its design and the materials used, it offers significantly higher fatigue strength than standard roller chains. It also provides excellent wear resistance, ensuring a long service life.
KettenWulf HS
KettenWulf HS roller chains (Heavy Series) represent an intermediate performance level within the KettenWulf range of chains manufactured to American standards. They are designed for applications with high loads and frequent shock loading.
As with the standard KW series they are based on, the key advantage lies in the precision manufacturing of all chain components. However, reinforced link plates and fully hardened pins provide higher tensile strength, improved shock resistance, and greater fatigue strength.
HS chains are the ideal choice for applications where standard KW chains are no longer sufficient, but the use of the top-tier HFS series would be excessive.
Chain Construction
- Reinforced inner link
- Reinforced outer link
- Through-hardened pin
- Seamless, case-hardened bush
- Seamless, through-hardened roller
Chain Fields of Use
28A-1 / ASA 140-1 reinforced roller chains according to DIN 8188 are designed for applications with higher mechanical loads, where standard roller chains might not meet requirements for strength and fatigue resistance.
They are most commonly used as drive chains in demanding operating conditions but can also be fitted with attachments or other auxiliary components for material handling and lifting applications.
